Daniel, I too, was unable to have my father, available to me as a young man with a growing family. I never replaced - him - not even with a surrogate, a stand in, not a family friend. I was not a young boy, as you were. Your strength of character is evident in your poem, your love for your father is in the passion of your voice. Thank you for saying I have not said and could not express.
